Shapree’ Summerville, LP
I am a proud graduate of the University of Cincinnati, where I earned my PhD in Clinical Psychology. My passion lies in helping individuals explore their inner worlds through one-on-one therapy that encourages the presence of the authentic self. I believe that the therapeutic process is most effective when clients are in the driver's seat of their journey, with me alongside as a guide to help navigate toward healing and personal growth.
My approach to therapy is grounded in evidence-based treatments, primarily Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). For those struggling with sleep difficulties, I have received specialized training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I), a highly effective, short-term treatment for improving sleep.
I also bring a deep appreciation for how spirituality and religion can be integrated into therapy when relevant, honoring these aspects as meaningful parts of our lived human experience. Additionally, I am sensitive to the complex realities of racial identity, cultural stress, and the societal invalidation that often accompanies these experiences. I strive to create a space where these realities are acknowledged, respected, and explored with care.
I recognize that seeking therapy can be a deeply personal and sometimes difficult decision, especially for those whose cultural or community backgrounds carry stigma around mental health. I aim to break down those barriers by offering a safe, affirming space where you feel seen, heard, and supported. My goal is to meet you with compassion and respect, helping you reclaim your story and begin a meaningful journey toward self-discovery, empowerment, and healing.
I look forward to walking alongside you as you take the first steps toward the life you want to live.
